Septic Tank Inspection in Trinidad

A septic system is buried, so it's easy to buy a house with a problem you can't see. An inspection finds the tank, checks how full it is and what condition it's in, and looks at the soakaway. We'll connect you with a crew to do it before you commit, or whenever you're worried about your own.

Buying a house? Ask these first

Ask the seller when the tank was last pumped, where the lids are, and whether there have been backups. If they don't know, an inspection costs far less than replacing a failed soakaway after you've moved in.

What an inspection usually covers

  1. Locating the tank and lids, and checking they're safe and accessible.

  2. Measuring the sludge and scum layers to see how full it is.

  3. Checking the baffles, inlet and outlet, and the tank walls for cracks.

  4. Looking at the soakaway area for pooling, smell or soggy ground.

Questions

Septic Tank Inspection: common questions

Does the tank need to be pumped for an inspection?

For a full check of the walls and baffles, yes. A quick check of levels and the soakaway can be done without pumping, and the crew can advise which you need.

How long does an inspection take?

Usually an hour or two, longer if the lids are buried and have to be dug out first.

Will I get a written report?

Ask when you book. Many crews will give you a short written summary with photos, which is useful for a house purchase.
